²⁰ Everyone should remain as he was when he was called.

²¹ Were you a slave when you were called? Do not let that concern you. But if you have an opportunity to gain your freedom, take it. ²² For whoever was called in the Lord as a slave is a freedman of the Lord, just as whoever was free when he was called is a slave of Christ.
